Vatha Kozhambu is a traditional South Indian recipe native to Tamilnadu. This Kozhambu is prepared with Sundakai Vathal (Turkey Berry), Manathakali vathal (Sunberry), shallots and garlic.

Ingredients for Vatha Kuzhambu recipe

Shallots – 15 to 20
Garlic – 6 to 8 cloves
Tamarind – 1 lemon size
Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
Chilli powder – 1 Tbsp
Sambar powder – 4 Tbsp
Rock salt – To Taste
Jaggery – 1 Tsp
Fenugreek seeds – 1 Tsp
Cumin – 1 Tsp
Pepper – 1 Tsp
Curry leaves – 4 Sprigs
Gingerly oil – 60 ml

Tempering

Round red chillies – 4 to 6
Mustard – 1/2 Tsp
Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 Tsp
Asafoetida / Hing- 1 Tsp
